Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
Without getting into the great debate of which browser is better. One thing I like about Firefox are the addons which are available for it. There are so many now, and you wonder which ones are worth it. Maybe collectively we can share our experiences with different addons.
I personally like XMarks (formerly foxmarks) and colortabs.
-XMarks - If you have Firefox on different computers, you can synchronize the same bookmarks on each computer.
-colortabs - each tab you open is a different color.
Which ones have you tried and like?
Here are a couple of addon links:

BTW: Thunderbird also has addons :-)|TG| RoadWarrior

NoScript. Enough said.
For anyone from the moderately security concious to the paranoid, this plugin is something that could arguably become a standard feature in web browsers to come. It's definitely ahead of it's time.

I won't use anything but Firefox with NoScript. There's just no functionality like it available anywhere else.

Re: Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
As great as NoScript might be for the browser, it might not be a tool you'll find in a web designer/developer's box. I wouldn't want my browser to automatically by default block JS, Flash, and other scripts. It's great if you are surfing on a public computer. I find it's a pain to go and add every new website I come across to the exceptions list.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure there was another thread where a whole bunch of us posted our addons. I'm sure it's somewhere in the back pages of this section.
I current use:
Abuction!
Adblock Plus with Adblock Filterset.G Updater
Basics
Cooliris
Download Statusbar
DownloadHelper
FFMyIP
Firefox Throttle
GooglePreview
Greasemonkey
IE Tab
Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant
Move Media Player (think it's for FOX's Flash videos)
Open Image In New Tab
PackingMapping.com Extension
PDF Download

Re: Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
NoScript, and I don't mind the need to add sites, as I see a lot less ads by simply adding known ad sites to the black list.
Similarly, FlashBlock prevents potentially hostile Flash from running until I say it's ok.
These two let me visit potentially hostile sites without fear of immediately getting pwned by active content.
I also run PDF Download, to avoid accidentally clicking on a PDF file, as they often take forever to load, compared to a regular web page. With the recent vulnerabilities in Acrobat, this also makes my browsing safer.
I find myself now doing web dev, and I find Firebug indispensable. It shows the DOM structure and the lines of CSS that apply to an element, and how they were inherited.
Forecastbar Enhanced is a nice way of quickly checking the weather. It displays the 3-day weather forecast in the status bar.
I use Chatzilla as my IRC client.Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
Before I made this post I assumed this same thing, did numerous searches for any topic that contained the word Firefox and nothing about addons appeared. If there is something, it isn't easy to find.
Thanks to all for sharing, there are a number of addons that I didn't know existed or saw them but didn't know if there was value to install or not...|TG| RoadWarrior

Searched for "firefox addons" and found this:

(It didn't turn up with "firefox addon". Google didn't find it with the singular, either.)Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
W6, I see you have a way to filter out forums with your Greasemonkey setup. Do you have a way to get more threads per page? I start my session by clicking New Posts (I have a bookmark to that), go to page 2 of the results, then edit the URL to go back to page 1 and select 250 results per page (which the server truncates to 200, but it's an easy URL edit to change the 25 to 250 by replacing the end of the URL with "0"). It would be great if I could get 200 results per page on the first New Posts invocation.

Re: Firefox Users: What are your favorite addons
Maybe it's the old fashionness in me, but I still stick with a external editor and browse through the CSS/JS/XHTML myself. I also use Filezilla instead of something like FireFTP (uninstalled it about 2 months back).
Edit: Adding Firebug just to see some of the novelty features like "CSS Metrics".Last edited by Acreo Aeneas; 06-02-2009 at 10:55 PM.
