Ummm.....Dog, that would make me think it was stolen. Those would be the things missing if someone snatched it from a house in a hurry.

nah... it's a company that sells all kinds of stuff.... the id has over 30,000 ebay auctions, so I doubt it was stolen. probably bought as part of a lot and then they were selling them one by one.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
Only one real bummer for me with the PS3 slim, no backwards compatibility. I have one of the really old PS3's now that I can play PS2 and original PS games on(so far played every one I have tried too). I have no need yet to get a new PS3 and don't play older games(PS2 or original PS) much but at least I love that option.
I see the reason Sony has done this though, you can download some of the older games from the Playstation Network, therefore they are making more money from the older games that you may already have.
Oh, them no allowing any other OS is also going to upset a lot of people. I have not tried it on my PS3 but ran it through my brain to see what it was like.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
It may upset geeks like us, BUT honestly, how many PS3 users will ACTUALLY install linux? Probably such an indiscriminate percentage, that it's not worth them spending another dime on supporting it. I can understand all their changes from a business perspective. Even I've pondered installing it, but have never truly bothered. Very few have.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
I'm not sure but I thought they were 400 and 500 originally right? Now the slim is 300 and you get a 120gb hd.

400 for the 60 or 80GB, and 500 for the 120GB or something, yeah.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
I had paid $599 before taxes for my 80Gb PS3 back in the day.
I still think it is a great deal. Sony should have did it sooner with the price reduction even if they did not slim it down. Lower price means more units should sell.
I still like my PS3 over my Wii and never cared for the 360 at all.
As for them doing away with the option of another OS, that does not bother me either. I thought it was not really worth trying since I already had a desktop computer and laptop. If I needed to get into more complex stuff that the PS3 couldn't handle then I have the 3 real computers I can fall back on. It was just a thought that had crossed my mind to see what YDL would have been like on it.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
I just bought one mainly for the blueray and upscaled DVD. Once I installed it, it automatically turned my PC into a media server. That was an awsome bonus that I was not aware of.
At $300 it is the best Blueray going, so no reason not to buy, even if my son already has one.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
If I had an HDTV, I actually would have considered buying a PS3 to use as a HTPC when it had Linux support. It lost a lot of its appeal to me when they pulled PS2 backwards compatibility and they have completely lost me now. I'm just too much of PC gamer. I never play consoles anymore.

I also bought my PS3 for it's blu-ray capabilities. Games were just a nifty bonus! As far as blu-ray players go, it's an unbeatable bargain.

Re: Playstation3 Slim announced
Since you mentioned it, Engadget just posted this a few mins ago:
Stateside PS3 sales up 300% following Slim introduction
Sony says they are still loosing money on each unit they sale.
