Does RAID 1 need 2 clean disks?
I was wondering if enabling RAID 1 requires you to have 2 clean disks or just the main one you intend to have mirrored. I've already formated the second drive so it's 100% clean but I want to be sure the RAID doesn't overwrite my first drive too

Also may this be motherboard specific or is it the same for practically every motherboard?

Re: Does RAID 1 need 2 clean disks?
it won't if u do it properly. what you need to do is make sure that you click the drive with the data on it and choose mirror drive (if you do it in windows) and then select the second drive as the target drive and it will mirror the data to it.
if you are using a hw level raid ... the process will be different due to the software used to setup the raid but just make sure you choose the disk with the data as the first disk.
