    Exclamation Vizio TV's and Monitors

Hey I just wanted to let you guys know about my experience with them. First, some background info. I used to do alot of warranty work for HP and Samsung TV's (Im not fond of HP anything, but they pay). When I first heard about Vizio I said to myself "Great more chinese [crap] for ppl to waste money on!" I must say I was VERY wrong.

Basically since I moved to Texas, I started doing warranty work for Vizio TV's as extra cash on the side. After about 30 or so repairs in and around (60 mile radius) Victoria, I was becoming a believer. I make it a point to ask the customer how the customer service was. How well do they treat you? How easy are they to get a hold of? How long were you on hold for? EVERY one of my customers reported that they are very satisfied with both the quality of their TV and with the service level of tech support when they did have to call in.

January of 09 I bought my 47" 120Hz Vizio and I have not looked back! I have had no problems with it. My stepdaughter broke my remote and so I called in. I did not even have to wait on hold. The automated system was comprised of english or spanish, then stated tech support hours, then connected me to an agent here in the US (I think in California of Nevada). They are sending me a new remote. I was so thoroughly impressed with the service that I felt I HAD to tell you all about it. This is surely a company that will have my business in the future.

I'm right there with you. I have a Vizio 47" as well, also bought in january. I use it as both television and computer monitor, so it gets an immense amount of use. I havent had a single problem with the exception of the batteries in the remote dying, but AA's arent hard to come by.

    i told you to stop......

seriously, I looked very hard at vizio myself. it came down to loving Sony more. there is something about the quality of thier electronics I can't get past. My last tv (now the Wii TV) is a 14 year old sony 27 inch, and it works perfectly.... has a great picture still too....

the 120 hz thing seems to be fluff, but the company came out of nowhere and took the market by storm. I purchased 2 37" lcd's for work and love them too.

my friend has a Vizio 37 inch. And the lay out of the the tv is very modern but the quality of the image , is horrible. My 5 year old LG plasma has far better image. Yes price wise , Vizio is very good and prob offer a great service . But if you are able to spend the extra buck on a Panasonic, do it.
    But thats my experience.

Vizio is pretty good for the price.

Also, don't be fooled by LG, it doesn't stand for "Life's Good", it stands for "Lucky GoldStar". Yeah, the company famous for the most generic pieces of crap ever made.

whoooooooooooooah. I have had an LG lcd HDTV for 3 years no problems great picture. An LG blueray disc player, an LG range and an LG Refrigerator all great and trouble free. Vizio has steadily risen in quality over the years and now rates quite high in picture quality in the reviews i have read. you have worked on them ,you should know better than any of us how good or bad they are.

Funny how people label Vizio as a Chinese brand when they are based in California (aka a American company) and their TVs are mostly manufactured in Taiwan. The factory that produces Vizio's TVs also produce for Sharp, Sanyo, and Magnavox as well, so I doubt it's crappy manufacturing.

Thats why I said I was wrong, I had made an assumption and consequently made an... well you know the rest.

Dont get me wrong, I love samsung and sony as well, but when shopping for a tv, the display for mine was next to a Sony and I could not tell the difference in picture quality side by side watching a blu ray. The only thing I noticed was that the Vizio was a little brighter. The 120Hz (at least to me) is not fluff, I noticed a much smoother experience on my xbox after upgrading from my 32" Viewsonic.

    Re: Vizio TV's and Monitors

saying lg is goldstar is like saying the ford escort is just a pinto.

while it may be technically true, upping the quality does not help if the brand is in the toilet.... change the name and poof, everyone is willing to give it another try.

look at polo / ralph lauren, gap / banana republic, sears / craftsman / kenmore

    or even back to cars:

    GM / Saturn / Chevy / GMC / Hummer / Cadillac / Buick / Olsmobile / Pontiac / Saab / Vauxhaul / Holden / Opel
    Ford / Mazda / Mercury / Lincoln / Jaguar / Volvo / LandRover / Aston Martin / freightliner / etc.
    Chrysler / Dodge / ram /Mercedes / Jeep / Smart / Plymouth / Mitsubishi
    Honda / Acura
    Toyota / Lexus / Scion.
    Volkswagen / Audi / Bently / Skoda / Seat / Lamborghini / Spyker / Bugatti / Porsche.
    Nissan / Infiniti / Renault / Citroen.
Fiat / Alfa Romeo / Ferrari / Maserati
    BMW / MINI / RollsRoyce
    Hyundai / Kia

I have heard many people say they would never buy another x product again and are driving something that is owed by the same company.

Some of those car brands are owned by a single company (like Ford for example owns Lamborghini and Land Rover - crosses out).

Edit: Well, it seems both Lamborghini and Land Rover have changed hands in the years since I've read up on them. Lamborghini is now owned by Volkwagen (which also owns Audi). Land Rover was owned by Ford but was recently sold to Tata Motors.

Mazda is partially owned by Ford in that Ford owns a majority share of Mazda's public stocks. Several models, like the Tribute are produced here in the U.S. The Tribute is also some 98% identical to the Ford Escape (in every way but some small cosmetics and a logo difference). And I could go on and on, but I'll stop.

My 37 inch Vizio has a fantastic picture and have had zero problems with it. Have owned it for almost 2 years now. I am quite happy with it.

Vizio is a solid brand with amazing pricing. If I was looking at a good quality budget oriented television, I'd look no further than Vizio.

the car companies on the same line are supposed to be (or have recently been) the same... thus the analogy...

"Ford sucks... I drive a Volvo"

Chevy sucks... I won't drive anything but Saab"

you are handing your money to the same people.... just buying a different sticker on the trunk. same goes for many electronics brands (rca / Sanyo) but also LG / goldstar... same people.... different sticker.... customer amnesia.
