This looks kind of interesting:
Microsoft to Host Sponsored Themes for Windows 7
Hopefully there will be some cool ones (a TG theme *cough*cough*)

Re: Windows 7 - The Mega Sticky
Question regarding the OEM version of Win7. I'm looking to get Win7 Pro 64-bit, and would rather not spend almost $300. They've got the OEM version for about $140 on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-758-_-Product
From reading here and other places, the OEM comes with the limit of being tied to your system (ie, non-transferable). How much truth is there to this? If I installed the OEM OS and then 3 years down the line build a new system, MUST I buy a new OS disc/license? Is there no way whatsoever to continue to re-use this OEM disc/license? Or is this possible, but just with a big hassle? My XP disc has lasted me through 2-3 systems and was free (Dell rep allegedly handed it to me).
I'd get this through the University where I work, but for some reason there's a holdup on the licensing issue and it's going to be several more months until we might have something for departmental use and... "testing".

Re: Windows 7 - The Mega Sticky
I'm pretty sure you can reuse it, but with a hassle. You are probably going to have to get a new license number using the automated phone system, which can be a pain, but cheaper than buying a new disk. When I was having memory problems when Vista came out, every time I messed with the RAM (like took a stick out or put it in), Vista would say I needed to register again, like I was putting it in a whole new system. Messing with RAM isn't supposed to do that, but Vista had some problems early on, and MS has said Win7 has been fixed. But I had to use the phone system a few times, and at least it has the system where it can recognize you speaking the numbers out loud.

Only about half the time, though. :P I've had to register software for people at work, and half the time I just went with the good 'ole touchpad.
Good to know the extra info. Not sure if the hassle is worth paying less; I don't want to have to talk to people to make my system run if I change components.

True, it is a hassle, but 15-20 mins. of time every 2-3 years or so, and you save more than just a little $$.
Another way to think about it is MS wants to get back to a new version every 3 years or so. So if you are on an every 3 year upgrade cycle (give or take), then you might not be wanting to reinstall Win7, but rather Win8. And the amount you save going OEM on 7 would almost pay for OEM on 8.
