    From the EFF article:

The Internet provisions have nothing to do with addressing counterfeit products, but are all about imposing a set of copyright industry demands on the global Internet, including obligations on ISPs to adopt Three Strikes Internet disconnection policies, and a global expansion of DMCA-style TPM laws.

The funniest thing is that anyone who knows anything about bit torrent knows how to encrypt their connection. This law will be just as big of a success as the RIAA showed us when they thought they could wipe out music piracy by suing 12 year olds. Oh wait, that GAVE BIRTH to bit torrent.

How does encryption help with BitTorrent? Anyone who joins the torrent gets the decrypted content and can tell if it's copyrighted. Anyone who joins the torrent gets a list of IP addresses from the tracker of all others in the torrent, giving them targets to prosecute.

Encryption may protect you from those outside the cloud trying to sniff your traffic, but it doesn't protect you from others already inside the cloud. Protection from those inside the cloud can't be done with encryption. That has to be done with trust. (The same kind of trust used by the undergrounds that protected escaping slaves in the civil war, and escaping Jews in WWII, and the trust between a pot grower and his customers.)
