Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
Not a phone app per se, but I've just released (Codeplex, open-source) a beta version of the solution I've created for my need to listen to podcasts at accelerated speeds on Android:
http://taffy.codeplex.comSteam Community? Add me. | Join #tacticalgamer | Search Results Legend | New Posts Forum Filter | Postbox Toggle | Live Thread Review | One Line Results | Free Remote, Encrypted Backup
Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

I switched from the Droid to the HTC Incredible. I have found that it is a smoother running phone with the android system.

WebSharing
If anyone knows of a better sharing app, please let me know.WebSharing enables you to wirelessly transfer files to and from your phone/device using a web browser. You can play and manage music, view your photographs, and manage files on your device using your WI-FI network. It additionally features the ability to browse/manage your phone as a WebDAV share.

Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
I'm glad this thread got bumped up. Guys, theres a site called androidplayground.net that is charging people for pirated android apps. thats right, they're pirating paid apps from the market and then charging people to get them, basically stealing the credit AND the money for the apps. as a developer myself and with at least one other developer in the TG community (wyzcrak, who made the Heavens Above Me app), this is something we should all be completely against. it's wrong and its illegal. so please, visit the petition below and sign it. after a couple weeks, the (hopefully thousands) of signatures will be sent to the host of the site to have it taken down.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/downwithapppool/
also, if you have the time, sent a complaint to paypal to have their account removed for selling pirated material. their paypal merchant account is "androidplayground". Thanks for the assists guys!

Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
I just moved up from HTC Eris to Motorola Droid X. HTC = best interface. Droid X - best phone EVER!
there are a few apps I did not see that I use all the time:
battery time light - comes with widget as well.
car mode - one touch to switch settings to speaker on
tricorder - puts all the gps / compass / level / wifi analyser / audio analyser / etc apps into one package.... plus it looks like a ST:TNG tricorder. - the audio analyser is actually really acuarte as well.
rock player - for playing xvid / dixv / mp4 video
gmote - to control my laptop when hooked to my TV - also great for streaming music from my itunes library (on my desktop) to my phone - live
dropbox - great for keeping docs and whatever synced between multiple PC's and phone
drop - very addictive game
hibernate - turns off all the radios on your phone for specified time periods (i.e. 11:00pm to 6:00 am) also has an alarm... great for extending battery life and keeping phone from going off when you need it to shut up.
pdanet - tethering to laptop to use phone's modem for internet access
spare parts - access to advanced configurationsOnly two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -Albert Einstein
The two most common elements in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity. -Harlan Ellison
If all else fails: "rm -rf /"

Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
I recently made the switch from the iphone 3G to the Samsung Captivate. I'm getting used to the new UI and also trying to track down similar features / apps to what I was used to.
Does anyone have a good app that syncs my desktop music folder(s) / mp3s with android?
What about syncing photos / videos?
Any apps that can stream video from the phone over the web in real-time?

Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
I got a Samsung Vibrant (the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S) last month. Coming from a Blackberry and wouldn't/couldn't switch from Android if I had to.

I did a lot of playing around with different apps the first couple of weeks but I'm now into my standard "minimalist" frame of mind so for my Home screen(s) I switched from Samsung's TouchWiz to Launcher Pro with some custom icons and really like it. I have a single, real basic home screen (basically just weather, a couple apps and a couple of widgets) and take full advantage of Launcher Pro's scrolling docks (a total of 3) to allow quick access to my most commonly used functions.
The full list of applications I have installed are:
Act 1 Video Player
Album Art Grabber
Barcode Scanner
Engadget
GPS Status
NetCounter
OurGroceries
Roboform Bookmarklet
ScoreCenter (ESPN)
Smooth Calendar
Speed Test
Touiteur
Wifi Analyzer
XDA
Zedge
How are you liking your Captivate asch? I've loving the Vibrant. Smooth and fast all-around. The Vibrant comes pre-loaded with Avatar and it really shows off the Super AMOLED. Hopefully Samsung releases the GPS fix soon and I've heard Froyo (2.2) ROMs loaded on the Galaxy S phones are just screaming.

Re: Droid (Andriod) Phone Apps
Digi: the 2.2 roms ARE screaming. I have seen quadrant scores in my tests that are jaw droppers. However, unless you've been doing the root/dev thing for a while, I'd recommend against trying any of them because there isnt a single one out there thats remotely close to stable. I've soft-bricked my vibrant half a dozen times so far (thankfully, no true bricks or I'd be in trouble).
As far as the apps you're running, thats a good list.
In addition, I have a couple useful apps you might want to look into, especially if you carry the phone around at work or travelling.
Unavailable (can set up auto-response texts/messages for incoming callers/texts on demand or on schedule)
No-Signal Alert (self-explanatory)
Call Waiting Configurator (allows you to set up custom alerts for incoming calls/texts/voicemails while you're on the other line)
Extended Controls (you can set up custom widgets like the android "Power Control Widget" thats built in, but with vastly more options)
Also, if you're interested, rooting your phone will give you some extra perks to use. Root is ridiculously simple on this phone by the way. Theres a GPS semi-fix that will improve GPS lock speeds, as well as the ability to increase the max volume on the earpiece and ringer.

@Dredge... I'll start another thread about my experience with the iphone vs captivate (android).
Here are the apps I currently have on my phone. Nothing real exciting. I'm holding off on doing much more because I'm experiencing the random shutdown issue that many others are.
