Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
Alright so its getting close to month till the release of Bad Company 2 so let us reopen the hunt! Again I have an XPS 400 (store bought), 4 gigs of RAM, Pentium D proscessor, Intel 945 P chip set, a really crappy GFX card, and a 1TB HDD. Im looking to fill out the system reqs for Battlefield Bad Company 2 for as cheap as possible. Any help will be great!

Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
Well, upgrade is almost out of the question. We need a rough estimate of how much you want to spend. Do you already have a good/decent monitor as well?
However, I would go this route
Motherboard with 1156 socket support - $100.00 - $140.00
1156 socket/i5-750 - $199.00
2x2GB=4GB DDR2 Dual channel ram - $100.00
ATI 5770 - $170.00
Power Supply 650w to 750w - $50.00 - $110.00 (non-modular most likely)
Also, you will most likely need a hard-drive, anywhere from 500GB to 1TB, if you need good amounts of storage. $40.00 - $90.00
If you build you'll definitely need a computer case, which you can find super cheap for a no frills case. $50.00 - $100.00
So, possibly $700 bucks to $900 dollars.|TG-12th|Undead

Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
Ouch. Can I use my existing power supply? Also I already have a 1TB HDD and 4 gigs of RAM that I bought recently. (about 3 months ago) I asume this is without any combos. One question about PC building since I have never done it before, is it some what plug in and go or do you have to soder stuff, etc.? Thanks.
P.S. I read that the i5 doesn't need an external GFX card, is this true?lTG-Irrl Argetnar

Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
You need to make sure that the motherboard/CPU you use is compatible with the RAM you bought.
The only tool you will probably need is a phillips head screwdriver.
Some of the new i5s have a built in graphics unit. It is almost certainly worse than whatever video card you have now. It will not be suitable for playing games similar to BF:BC2.|TG-12th| Namebot

Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
Ok thanks! I seem to remember someone talking about mobo/ram/cpu bundles? Would this help reduce the cost? Because that 700 figure puts a sharp pain in my wallet. I just want to get the the minimum to make this game look decent and the rest can come later. Maybe that is the minimum, I don't know. No offense but if anyone has any cheaper options that would be great.

Re: Processor and GFX Card Questions
Give a link to the RAM you bought and a rough budget for your upgrade.
