Discussion: General Forums / Hardware & Software Discussion - Official 2010 CES Show Thread - I am waiting to make a final mega post with all the wrap up stuff,
If this thing turns out to work, just think about never having to plug your cell phone or Ipod in to recharge. And in towns that have good Wi-Fi coverage, you could never have to worry about a dead battery again. That really could be the biggest thing out of CES.
I do wonder how long you could play before getting tired, but I guess it would take a while to get used to the workout of those muscles. Man I wish they had a firm release price and date!
Watch the video and think about which room of your house you could convert
We all need circular rooms now. Damn technological advancements. Interesting that they say this was meant for use in cell phones too. How cool would it be to go on a plane and have a phone like a G1 or Droid or Nexus One and be able to watch a movie projected from the phone onto, say, the tray table while it's flipped up? Much easier than having to drag out the laptop.

Actually, there are tons of those phones being shown, both at and before CES. Just do a search on engadget or gizmodo. Pico projector should bring up some. Here are just a couple from the last few days:
Ok, there is still some news trickling out, but most of it is just repeating, so time for the wrap up post(s), and there is a ton of stuff to see. Here, we gooooooo.............................
I was really disappointed by the computer monitor stuff shown this year. Everyone is going to 1080p only it seems like. Not cool
There were some cool things shown, like the Samsung/ATI setup, but come on, $1800?????? And only 1080p rex? You could buy 3 of the very good Dell ISP monitors, on sell right now for $499, and a mount (or make one yourself), and it would look way better. Now if the Samsung setup completly got rid of the frames, we might be able to talk more.
Ostendo multiple CRVD display games-on - These are stunning, but I should hope so at $6,500 each. And they are running 3! Video of 2 dumbasses playing at the link.
That about does it for audio/video. Will do another post with the rest.
There was also some other stuff from MS about natal motion controllers.
As for more computer stuff, there is still some interesting stuff trickling out:
CES 2010: Psyko Audio - These are getting really good reviews, but WOW! at $300 I should hope so. I would really like to test some out. I have looked at their website a few times while helping TG guys pick out some new headsets, and they are always sold out.
MSI unveils Radeon R5870 Lighting and R5850 Cyclone - Something like that makes it really hard to wait for the Nvidia stuff to get here. All the reports are now saying very low quantities of Nvidia in March, and it may be 2 months after release till we see a stable supply. Which of course means they will be way overpriced due to supply/demand. I am really leaning on going with an ATI card like this. Thinking of waiting for the first real reviews of the Nvidia cards to show up, and if they are absolutely mind blowing good, will snag an ATI, which have come down in price even more.
Cydle M7 Android tablet has TV tuner, external monitor capabilities - I'm pretty excited about this. It may be a tablet, but you can use it as an external monitor and is touchscreen. And only $200!! People could write little programs for it that you could use while gaming, like macros in WOW. I'm also thinking how awesome this would be in flight sims where you could have modeled toggle switches and stuff. So many possibilities.
Mad Catz readies up new Eclipse keyboards & mice :: TweakTown - Wow, MadCatz might be about to release the got to have keyboard. The numpad is completly customizable touchscreen. Looks really good too, and not bad at $129 for wireless and $99 for wired. I'm actually liking the little trackball with mouse keys under the numpad. Kind of wish it was under the spacebar. That would let me throw out megaposts like this one without constantly going back and forth to my mouse. Wish it gave a release date.
Intel's Atom-powered home energy dashboard concept gets itself a website, no closer to retail reality -- Engadget - I can't wait for these to become common place. Would buy one in a heartbeat. Right now I'm running one of these: Blue Line Innovations PowerCost Monitor Got it for like $50 from my local power company. It's great to see realtime power usage, like when you hear the heater kick on, or after someone takes a shower and the hotwater heater kicks on, and the power usage jumps way way up. Stupid hot water heater
Also just got this last week: Black & Decker TLD100 Thermal Leak Detector
It is AWESOME!!!!!. I've spent hours going around spotting spots I need to caulk or add insulation. The area around my attic access is about 70 degress, but the actual door/board is 55 degrees. Any wonder why my heat has been running non-stop for the last week. It is like 15 degrees outside at night.
Sorry to go off topic. Save that for another post
And finally Engadget and Gizmodo just posted their wrapups.
I will wait on 3DTV, but I do like the super slim TVs. I look forward to the day when everything is wireless, including power.
I am looking forward to USB3.0, however.

FROM THE TACTICAL GAMER PRIMER.
3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.
Super Slim TV's are looking pretty nice. Their price won't though.
3D is dumb. Not a fan of 3D movies and shelling out extra money for a stupid 3D TV is just insane. I'm NOT wearing glasses while watching TV. Never going to happen.
Tegra is looking pretty cool though. Amazing what they can do on that little chip with no heat sink while using next to no power. If the price is right I'd buy a Tegra tablet.
Oh yeah I just bought a 5850. Couldn't pass up $269.99. Probably still pick up a Fermi card when I can get my hands on one. I get great graphics now and I can always pawn the 5850 to some one to make up the difference.

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
