    Sometimes the cause might just be lots of wireless signals in the vicinity causing interference with your wireless devices.
    That is something I will try. My keyboard and mouse are both wireless, and are within several feet of a wireles router. Thank you for the advice.

    That might be the cause. Move your wireless router further away from those devices (preferably not within line of sight of the keyboard nor the mice receiver(s)).

    I just was thinking about everyone's jerky mouse movements (reading Apophis's post about his MX1000 triggered this thought): have you guys tried cleaning the lens on your mouse with a Q-tip (after dipping in rubbing alcohol)?

    I know it's obvious and that's why I never mentioned it in the first place, but if you haven't given that a try, go ahead and try it to see if it fixes your jerky movements.
