the BEST cpu/mobo cooler!
Ok. I was running at 143°F, (my cpu has a natural hotter core) and was reaching
150°F at times. I took off the side, and moved my TINY little fan, blowing into my case. It went from a constant 141°F to 116°F in a matter of 3 minutes or so FLAT.
Here's the pic...

As you can see the blue line (the threshold) is at ~150°F. It was VERY close to it, then the drop. That is soo awesome. I need better circulation in my case :P
it's since dropped to 114°F
just.. wow :P

I assume you are talking about some kind of desk fan? I did the same thing recently to determine that I needed a better case. My original one had crappy airflow.

My CPU was running at 53c, way too hot! I just got a new case and it now runs at 49c at max gaming levels. Newegg always has great deals on cases for less than $50.

Re: the BEST cpu/mobo cooler!
Oh, ok. I thought maybe you had a particular reason, as I never would have thought that was too hot... I was afraid that I needed to change my standards for CPU temp when I upgrade.

Yeah, I've always set my BIOS alarm to start beeping at 65 and to shut down at 70... Of course, I don't overclock.

Re: the BEST cpu/mobo cooler!
from about 50c onwards, the cpu starts to loose life. which in itself isnt a problem when its still going to last 4 ish years at that. but with overclocking the effect multiplys
thats why a CPU i overclock lets say 20% is going to die faster, but since i keep it at 40c, a cpu running at 70c will infact die faster than mine......

Re: the BEST cpu/mobo cooler!
You say this like running it in the 40s is going to allow it to run forever... The fact is, a CPU has a specific life that is almost always longer than a gamer is going to be using it, regardless of the stable temperature that it's run at. Once you get up in the temperatures that are going to drastically shorten its life (like it's gonna die on you right now), then you're not running a stable system anyway...
