Ok folks, it's that time of year again. That's right, the Consumer Electronics Show is happening this week!!!!
So remember for the next few days you are going to want to skip wearing underwear so you don't have to worry about getting them blown off with all the mind blowing tech news
I'll be taking massive doses of caffeine through IV to keep up with all the latest and will be posting it here for you to drool over.
But come on guys, help me out. If you see some cool bit of news or an article with some better pics than what I found, be sure to post them!
For a refresher, here is a link to last year's CES thread: Ces 2011 !!!!
This year is pretty interesting because there have been a LOT of early leaks. Seems companies are letting stuff slip a bit so they don't have to compete as much.
I'll try to split sections up to keep things a bit organized, so like TV news together, computer news together, etc.
The 5.1 and 7.1 surround headsets interest me. I am waiting for one that actually works well and is not a gimmick.
Google "tritton" here in this forum and you can see what I've said about my 5.1 set.
Mine actually broke recently and I spent a bit looking around for new ones, and since tritton was bought by madcatz they have changed a lot, so don't know if they are still awesome. I ended up buying some epoxy and fixing mine, so I'm good for the moment.
When they work, it really is amazing. But the source (game, movie, etc.), and the system, have to be set up right to make the 5.1 work right.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Google TV standalone products. If they make another box that also has Bluray and a compact keyboard remote, I'll be getting it.

As Bamboo pointed out Tritton however also as he mentioned they were bought by Mad Catz. Really the sets are still good and I have owned two (AX360, AX51 Pro). They have lasted long and I like the support for traditional sound cards. Any headset that uses USB I find to be cheap even Razer's Megalodon, don't get me wrong most are ok but USB just tends to muddy the mix. There are others out there that are true surround headphones like Pysko's which are really just expensive mumbo jumbo (Yes, I tested them.) and also Turtle Beach I believe makes some sets however I have no faith in their products or support.
I have been watching Razer though as they have upped the ante by reinventing they're true surround headset line. The new set is the Razer Tiamat which you can read more about here.
Ok! Ok! Ok!
Back for an update, and I have tech news leaking out of my ears. Just ran through at least 400+ articles from a dozen sites and my RSS feeds on top of that.
The need news is HOLY CRAP there is some awesome stuff about to cause our bank accounts to shrink.
The bad news is my fingers are about to fall off from all I'm about to post.
You don't have to read it all, just the sections you want. A lot of the links will have some repeats of some info, but if it is something cool and your interested in it I wanted to make sure you have as many links to look at as possible. And some link will have this little detail that others didn't, or some different pics or renderings.
So much stuff to I'm going to split up into a post for each section.
Put your drool bib on and lets get started..............................
Going to start off with cell phone section since it is a smaller one.
Tons of computer news today, and most of it just showing off new models of desktop or laptop, but I tried to get some of the bigger news.
Intel had a big press conference today and one of the biggest bits was this:
Firstly who needs 8gb dimm modules. What the hell would you be doing to use 64gb of memory. I was encoding a video and playing bf3 and I couldn't get over 5gb.
That windows 8 eye tracking is awesome. Now they need to adapt a game to that technology once it has matured.
The RCA plug above is actually already for sale at Lowes home improvement: RCA USB Wall Plate Charger
I bought one last week and love it. Its next to my recliner to keep the phone charged.
But while looking for that link I just saw this:
Affordable ultrabooks, reliable 8Gb sticks, slick wireless home theater kits, and Roccat finally comes to the US. I am going to be so poor after this year and on top of it I am just getting into Airsoft.
Out of all these highlights I feel Roccat is going to be a major market changer here in the US as they will be direct competitors with Razer.
Ok, as I was hoping, there is a TON of TV news. I'm about to buy my first big screen, so I collected more than most people will want to read, so you can pick and choose.
The good news is all the makers have AMAZING looking news sets with some pretty killer new features.
So many links I'm going to have to split this up into a few posts.
LG Sets
First off, LG has some crazy good looking sets, but also had a 55" OLED set to show off. OLED has been considered the Holy Grail of set tech for a while, but no one has been able to pull off a big screen, and there are still a lot of bugs that I hope they have worked out. Every tech site that has seen the OLED set from LG was floored.
But even though the sets are awesome, the bigger news is all the tech and features packed into them. If you check out the Keynote above it is crazy how far they are going with it. For instance you can make hand signals like pinching your hand open or close to control volume. And they are going to have dual core processors, but even bigger is that you can upgrade the processor when more powerful ones come out in the future.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
