yep another noob that needs help with picking out a video card
Ok well I am the type of guy that will spend the money (something I can't afford to do) on something nicer if I think it is worth it. So looking at the list of cards below in a cost benefit analysis type of way will you let me know what order you would chose these cards from highest rank to lowest rank?

Please keep in mind that I have one AGP 4x slot in my mobo 512mb of rdram and a 2.53gig P4 with 400mghz fsb.
I need help and as you can tell I am kinda new to this. Any comments or suggestions would be great
Thanks

start over and get DDR or DDR2 memory and an 8x agp or better pci express.

That is what I want to do but I can not afford that right now and I need something to get by at least for 8 months (I have a mx 420 64mb card now).

I didn't have a chance to look through your list, but I personally have a ATI Radeon 9800 XT. The XT is a little pricey, but it takes games like counter strike and eats 'em up.

Check out this guide and then narrow down your search yourself...

Also, instead of just giving a bunch of links, give us a little briefing as to what each link is for. Some of the links you gave could have been weeded out just by the name/ram specs of the card.

If you're gonna go with a little known brand, you might as well get the cheapest: EVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT Video Card, 128MB GDDR3, 128-Bit, DVI/TV-Out, AGP 8X, Model "128-A8-N350" -RETAIL $219 ($6 could pay for shipping!) BTW, I just bought an EVGA card and am very pleased with it. I've only had it for a week now, but it's very sturdily made and I have no reason to believe that it's of any lesser quality than, say, Asus...Become a supporting member!

Re: yep another noob that needs help with picking out a video card
yeah thats a bottem end cut down card.... but its 128bit DDR3 @ 1000mhz which is MUCH faster than a 9800pros.
a 9800pro is a 256bit card, Sapphire cut it down to 128bit and still named it the pro to make money out of people that didnt understand.
anyway Why you getting a 6600gt?

Yeah, the 66oo gt seems like it competes well with everything except the 6800 and for almost half the price, well.
