I think Overlag was running it... I was going to try it, but couldn't find drivers for too many things...

Re: Winxp64

i had dual boot for a while, but it was useless having no lan/sound/gfx drivers but this was the first beta of RC1. theres been a 2nd beta of RC1 and now RC2 is out.

ATI, creative all have new drivers out for XP64 so it should be easier to use. Only problem is ive heard SATA drivers are nasty right now, and having just moved over to sata only i cant really use XP64 right now if i risk loosing 300gig of stuff.......

anyway yes you can use steam and other 32bit programs on XP64...just like you can use 16bit programs on XP32 etc etc.

Thanks! I want to make the switch, but I wanted to here from some people, gamers in particular, how it's going. I see that ATI just relesed 64 bit drivers with there latest 5.2 package.

Re: Winxp64

I run it in vmware right now.... I had it on dualboot, but I cant get my mobile chipset video to accept any cat drivers. it works very well with the standard vmware 4.5 and 5 drivers. and with vmware 5, it runs WAY faster than my main xp install.

You're right: I misinterpreted his post.

Re: Winxp64

ok, forget winxp64

fedora for 64 bit is AWESOME! go get the DVD, comes in light at 2.9 gig. I ran it in VMWare5 with 512 of ram and a 3000+ and it outpaced winxp EASILY. I am going to dual boot this bad boy, and might ditch windows for good. (keeping it for games if I ever play them again)

I suggest anyone with A64 dl this beast... exchange server support, office included, pic editors, video editing software.......

wow.....that's all I can say.

heck, even the 32bit version would be worth a shot......

Re: Winxp64

At least if you're going 64-bit linux, try out Gentoo. The documentation is way better and you'll learn a lot just setting it up. I dual-boot Gentoo myself and it's the only distro I like after trying Mandrake, Fedora, and Slackware.
