What price range are you looking at? Or is money no object? I think that at different price points, ATI and Nvidia switch back and forth as to which is better...

Re: ati or nvidai

From the last review I've read the GeForceFX 6600GT has the best pricing and performace out of the bunch. It's what I currently run.

Re: ati or nvidai

Support: Currently ATI (but there's big things coming from nVidia soon)
Performance: I would have to go with nVidia atm (although they are so close it really depends on your system and tweak-skill level)

As usual it's a 50/50 situation between nVidia and ATI.
There's no mile anywhere in reality.

As far as future-proofing goes... you can't argue with nVidia's SLI technology.

Re: ati or nvidai

In my personal opinion I game with a Radeon 9600xt 256mb. The card is only around $150 and it will run most everything until the newest and baddest drop in price.

Well, if you could come up with $329, I'd recommend the MSI nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-Bit, TV-Out/DVI, PCI-Express, Model "NX6800-TD256E" -RETAIL

Otherwise, I'd go with an ATI 9800 Pro...

exactly

of this range Nvidia "own" the bottem and middle range, ati the top end imo

ati 9800pro or nvidia 6600gt
nvidia 6800 (vs nothing from ATI in this range)
nvidia 6800gt (vs the ati X800pro)
ati X800XTPE (vs the nvidia 6800ulta)

1st choice (its competition in same price/performance range)

Re: ati or nvidai

My g-force FX 5500 ownz u allz!!!

jk, id go with nvida, ive always used ther gfx cards, and never had any problems... A few of my friends are ATi die hards and see frequent fps drops... It my be there config, but 3 people seeing the same problems on the same card. Im not sure what to think... What it is i dont remember, but we were all laughing at the fact they all have the same thing, and same problems.

As for the 2-3 hundred range... Id wait a few, and see the 68k ultra drop...
