Most likely Trojans or the like. I never trust any 3rd party program that I can't analyze the living sh** out of by string searching, trojan scanning, virii scanning, ADS executable scanning, hex editing, ect ect.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

Why would you need these? Steam is free, and downloading your games after a system crash or something is equally free.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

I don't trust anything a hacker makes. I've ran across too many keygens that contained backdoors, and other malware. If you decided to use such a program, you do so at your own risk.
What if it breaks one of your internets? That would be bad!

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

Let me get this straight...$60 to get a program that (apparently illegally) lets you play Steam games without Steam (which is free)?

Forgive me if I don't see the attraction to these. Especially since the Steam games have an offline mode.

Can you explain why you would want one of these programs? In what possible scenario would they provide value to you?

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

I hate steam, it never works for me, i cant update, when i went to play HL2 it said it had to update, and downloading the update would take 120 min.

I had steam since the day i can remember, i played CS on WON maybe 2 times, then steam came out, seemed like a god send, but heh, look at it... So many people protest to it.

Though it works 75% of the time, i spent 60 bucks on a game i wasnt able to play offline till it updated, good thing i have DSL, or id be pissed. Friends is a joke, Settings get changed when steam crashes, the help support at steampowered.com sucks, valve should have just made WON 2.0 or something, because Steam is the anti-christ. Thats why i wanted to know if any of you tryed these programs...

Well that and my Computer teacher at school gave me a Tech account, witch allows me to install what ever i want, and i wanted to use Natural Selection, so my friends can play during Lunch. And steam didnt work, so these are the only alternitives, but if its got backdoors and viruses im not going to chance my good rep at school...

I Hate Steam.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

But...how do these programs solve the problems? More reliable download updates? Does it allow you to use Steam's friends from its program? I couldn't find any info on Google.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

Take a look at this post in the official steam forums.

Appears SixSteam steals your account. Of course this could be a scare tactic by valve, but I would avoid it just in case.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

Don't beleave what valve or steam crap says since its just a scare tactic. They are lieing and they know it. Both of these programs allow full access to all steam games for free. It doesn't steal nothing. The people working on these projects just hate steam and stuff. Nothing is mallicious in this software.

heres where you can know more about it thats for sure

Don't beleave those idiots at steam forums. they ban anyone who says the truth over there. Its just a one sided opinion over there which is steam is great and crap.

Re: Down Steam/Six Steam

Well, here's how I see it. I connect to the internet, click on "Steam", and within 10 second it's all started up with whatever window I want (Servers) and even has the 'Favorites' tab selected. I double click on one of the servers, and I connect.

So...why use a different program? Yeah, when Steam first came out I hated it but most all the kinks have been ironed out and the program works. I've grown up since then and now I really don't mind Steam. Who cares if Steam isn't the most fancy peice of software out there, I'd rather they focused on the updates then a new user inerface. Which, is about the only difference I see in these other programs.

OK, I just don't get it, I guess. Steam is free. Why would you want to pay for something that you can get for free?
