no excuse for 32 bit
ok... If anyone is in the market for a new computer, there is no reason to not take the plunge to 64 bit.
there are motherboards that have both 754 and 939 sockets onboard a 32 bit sempron 754 will work in a 64 bit mobo for now if money is really tight most of your existing parts work with the new setup I just put together a Athlon 64 3000+ socket 754 computer with a Geforce FX 5200 128 meg dual crt video, 1024 meg DDR pc2700 memory, 40 gig 7200 rpm drive, 52x32x52x16x cdrw/dvd combo drive, 7-in-1 media card reader, Mid tower case, 350 watt ps, firewire add-on card all for 462.00. most of us have the majority of these parts, so...... motherboard refurbished from newegg. 29.00 Gigabyte w/ via k8t800 chipset cpu refurbished retail from newegg. 125.00 still has 3 yr warranty memory rosewill cas2.5 pc2700 512 x2 45.00 each 40 gig seagate barracuda refurb 28.00 rosewill cdrw/dvd combo 38.00 new 7-in-1 card reader 17.00 new mid tower case 9.99 firewire add on card 10.00 350 watt ps 16.00 video card refurbished 58.00 421 plus shipping............ and I skimped on a lot of parts here, but what it will be used for, It is more than enough everywhere. most of you could have 64 bit computers for under 160.00......

Re: no excuse for 32 bit
Interesting... If I take my old hardware out of my p4 2.0, and buy a case with mobo and chip and memory, I can put in my old HDDs and vid card and sound card and DVD and that's all I'd need to do?
Won't XP freak out if I did such a thing? |
