If you post your exact motherboard make and model, it will be much easier for us to help you...

Re: sound drive help

Here is the download page for ECS (Elitegroup Computer Systems):
http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/down...to=Motherboard

They make a bunch of different boards, but it looks like just about all of thier motherboards use a RealTek chipset for the audio. The driver for that can be found here:
http://152.104.125.9/pc/ac97/alc650/wdm_a370.exe

In the slight possibility that the driver doesnt work, you will need to get an exact model # of the board to find the proper driver. Look at the model#'s on the download page so you know what to look for. The model# will be on the board, not on any of the chips.

Major Geeks - Aida 32

This is a free download that will give you every last detail of every hardware component in your box. It even gives you a direct link to the manufacturer. The link will take you to a page where you can read more about it before you DL it. I use it quite a bit, it's been a lifesaver.

edit:
Here is a screen shot from my PC.

Appears to be yes... most computer hardware comes from taiwan.
