RAID 5 vs. RAID 0 with SATA II
Hello, I am planing to buy a complete system and I am looking for the "best bang for the buck".
Let me start off with what I plan on getting. 1) DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Prod...N82E16813136151 2) Hitachi Deskstar 7K80 80GB Serial ATA II http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...ctCode=100590-1 3) Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 250GB Serial ATA II http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...ctCode=100594-2 Ok now my question is will I be able to take advantage of the SATA II speeds in a RAID 0 configuration or a RAID 5 configuration or both with this motherboard? Also if I can run both RAID 0 and RAID 5 at SATA II speeds I would use two HDs (#3 on list) for RAID 0 or four HDs (#2 on list) for RAID 5. Now would the RAID 5 array be faster then the RAID 0? If not would it be worth the sacrifice in speed for the reliability? |
