Probably be easier to do this software, as I *think* I recall reading that the 256 PRO was just a locked 9800XT anyway...

Re: wanna OC 9800 pro 256 to XT speeeds need help

It could be as simple as a bios flash, or it could be hardware locked, by not supplying enough voltage to provide higher clocks, in which case a hardware voltmod will need to be done. I don't quite recall, since I never bothered with the 9800 series, it wasn't a conceivable upgrade from my 9700

Software is easier to do. Btw you do know there is an overclocking guide in another thread on the hardware boards go read it.

Yes its supposed to be atleast the article I found said it is and if it isn't you can always reinstall the old bios. Also a guestimet would be around 388Mhz core. When I screwed up my Radeon I was running it at 405Mhz core and stock memory speeds.

Re: wanna OC 9800 pro 256 to XT speeeds need help

Mine was a real Pro model and not an underclocked XT Core. I am not sure what XT core speeds are. I recommend you try out ATI 9800 XT 256 MB Oct 23rd 2003 3:28 PM Mar 14th 2004 4:51 PM 412 / 365
Samsung one.
