6800LE - bargain, or broken?

Seeing the other threads comparing diff 6800 models, I hadn't seen anyone mention this one. There may be a reason, but I was interested in the reaction here.

Leadtech 6800LE. Price $139.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...12#DetailSpecs

I think it only has 8 pipelines open default. Slower core. still 256bit memory. For the price, it seems ok. Stock, compared to a 6600gt? What do you think? Opinions seemed mixed on the net about this card.

Now, throw in the possibility of opening more pipes. I think people have been getting like 60% success in opening up a quad of pipes (mostly the 12 pipes to 16 of regular 6800's to 6800gt's). So let's call it 50% to be conservative. Would that mean you have a 75% chance of opening at LEAST one set of pipes on this card(you win if either set opens, so only a 25% chance that BOTH WON'T open)? Or do you have to unlock them sequentially, so if you failed to unlock the 3rd set of pipes, you can't even try the 4th?

If you have a 75% chance of unlocking 1 set of pipes, and some chance of opening both, this seems like a possible deal...

Re: 6800LE - bargain, or broken?

i got one..! they dropped the price to $129 when i got mine..

i cannot get anything to unlock without artifacting on mine..but i get 80-90fps in bf2 with everything on medium or high...is 1000000000 times better than what i had...i have it OC'd to 390/760 and it isnot even hot...

i HIGHLY recommend it to anyone..!

i may have problems withmine since i have read that flashing the bios helps it unlock pipes, but i have no idea how to do this...so this may be why i cannot get it to unlock without "artifacting"..

but by itself it is a bad ass freakin card...128MB DDR RAM and 256-bit..! man.for the money there is no other solution if you are poor like me!

6600gt gives you about the same performance if not better. besides, the LE at the end would offend me every time i think about it. but then again, I spent $400 on a 6800GT

Re: 6800LE - bargain, or broken?

AOpen 6600GT $153 ( there IS a 20 dollar mail in right now though), 5 dollars shipping.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814135160

6800LE down to $124, 3.50 shipping.

So according to price, the 6600GT had BETTER be more than just similer performance. Based on cost, it'd better be 24% faster to justify the higher price!

you'd have thought I'd have talked myself into this card by now...

Re: 6800LE - bargain, or broken?

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...705/index.html

contains both the 9800xt 256, and a number of nvidia cards. Not the 6800LE specifically though. Still, looking at the 6600GT as about the level of performance of the 6800LE for comparison purposes, looks like the 9800xt 256 is just as good or better. Given its price, it SHOULD be better.

9800xt 256 $179 (AGP interface, price is consistent with pricewatch)
