Forgot to mention that its part of the fun. No matter how much of a pain in the ass it is.

Re: Never again will i build a computer

I spent literally my last dollars on this. Or crowns, same difference.

I checked VIA and lots of people have the problem in reverse, they have an integrated and change to another and they cannot get a pic on the screen anymore, but all they have to do is change back to the integrated, download the updates and go on their merry way. I cant get any picture with the integrated and not with a seperate either. There is a signal but it tells my screen to power off and pretend to be saving power.

No matter what screen or card i use i cannot get a picture. Everything works, the CD is checked the HDD spins up and the floppy does its thing. I just cant see anything.

I know i have more than enough power becuause my PSU comes from a , now dead, gaming rigg that used more than twice the power this one does.

Re: Never again will i build a computer

Have you tried RMAing the part? You should be able to have it replaced be either VIA or wherever you bought it from. When i built my pc I had to RMA the mobo back to Newegg to get a replacement because of a broken cap. Just part of the whole experience. I agree that it's kinda a right of passage. I like that my computer was built with a little of my own blood (literally ).

Building your own computers is hard especially if your OEM parts don't work right together and technology is constantly changing.

I cant send it back becuase the package isnt in one piece and that company requires things to look like it did when they sent it.

Re: Never again will i build a computer

Assuming you didn't snap something off then you'll be able to return it. Tell them it didn't work, and you want a replacement. Heck to be honest even if you did snap something you'd prob be able to get them to replace it. About the only thing they wouldn't take back is soemthing with water damage.

I built my current computer, and I like that it was my own design (as frustrating as it was having to learn about it all - took 4 OS installs for me to get the right order and things to work properly, but I learnt from it). Anyhow when I first pieced it together it didn't work. Luckily the mobo had Dr. Voice and told me it was a RAM prob. I told the company, and they said ship it back for a full refund (including P&P).

Besides, all those hours of frustration allows me to charge £30/hr fixing up people's computers of an evening

They Original manufacturer will take the part the back even if it's opened. It's faulty and it needs to be RMA'd. It's your choice now.

Re: Never again will i build a computer

Yeah if the site you bought it from doesen't take it back then don't buy from them again. VIA will almost definitley give you a replacement for a faulty part anyway.

Re: Never again will i build a computer

Ahh, if i send it back they want to test it which i will pay for along with the sending back and forth, it would cost me more than just buying a new mobo.
