Re: Monitor
For absolute gaming power, maximum fps and resolutions, No question, get a nice CRT. if you have desk space and eye strain issues, the 17/19" high-quality LCD's are at right about $300 on newegg. However, LCD's look like crap in anything other than their natural resolution (1280x1024 in this case). Key things with LCD's are that you need low response time to prevent ghosting (4-12ms usually) from a good quality brand. Mostly anything from Viewsonic or Samsung will do you fine. Also, they make two different kind of panels, a 6-bit and an 8-bit. The 8-bit has much better colors but tends to be slower response times (12ms-16ms usually) while the 6-bit do the 4-8ms. If you're into photo editing you need an 8-bit panel, but if you're just a gamer the 6-bits are fine. They way to tell is that the 6-bit panels are labeled as 16.2million colors while the 8-bits are 16.7 million.
