Re: Trillian help.

Basically it could be an issue on the icq server side

Here are some common reasons
1) Loss of connection to the remote socket
2) A connection can reset due to a timeout or a reboot of the remote system.
3) A duplicate IP address on your network
4) A misconfigured firewall or proxy server. A firewall or proxy server may block the connection.
5) Lost of packets or an aborted transfer. If the remote server stops responding, or if too many packets are dropped, or if the remote system aborts a transfer, it can cause a 10054 error.

You could also try this:
Try click ICQ connection dot on contact list > Connection prefrences > server (change from login.icq.com to login.oscar.aol.com) > [Save Settings]. Restart Trillian.

Re: Trillian help.

GAIM ftw.

If you insist on Trillian though...
# Error 10054 is always a disconnection from the remote server. It means that for some reason, the server terminated the connection.

Try removing the "-" when you input your ICQ number, and no spaces. That supposedly helps. And if that doesn't work, try just using the first 8 numbers.

Re: Trillian help.

I sorta quit using ICQ after AOL came into the picture. Don't remember dashes either Poker.

Re: Trillian help.

I think the dashes are actually ignored by the ICQ servers but are there to make the number easier to read. They've gotten so long. I actually have an ICQ account with a 6 digit ID around here somewhere!

It pains me to say it, but Poe is right (just this once)

I just set up a dummy ICQ account and tried adding it to trillian with dashes - it ignored the contact.

I find that funny :P Trillian HATED my buddy list... it was different on every computer, constantly merged things despite having been deleted, etc... but to each their own, I suppose.

And Root... pah. Just pah.

Re: Trillian help.

The only reason I like ICQ is because I unloaded my very low UIN's on ebay for a lot of cash

As for the disconnect problem, let us know if that worked..
