Re: Upgrading MOBO/PROCESSOR/MEMORY Question

I just want to make a comment on microsofts activation strategy, I have a perfectly legally way round of buying a new xp installation, All you need is an original xp key ( used or not doesnt matter ) And a xp installation disk. Once you've installed the disc you have 30 days, Click the activate button in the tray ( little keys ) Click activated by phone, ring the directed number and give them your installation id that appeared on your screen, they will give you a new installation id if you make an excuse such as new mobo and cpu or virus etc ( NEVER SAY YOU HAVE 2 COMPUTERS WITH XP AS THEY WILL SAY NO ) and youre done, you have the new installation id, enter it, click finish and voila. ~Craig~

this is no more or less legal than any other method. in fact, it is the only way to activate used oem keys. it becomes ILLEGAL when you lie to the operator about the reason for the need of the new id.

just because the operator gives you the id, it does not mean everything is actually legit. Will anyone ever find out? most likely not. Your own conscience is really the only thing you will have to deal with. another shady way is to fry the mobo on purpose.... then even if there were a way for anyone to find out, you have the broken mobo (worth 25 or 30 anyway) as proof.
