Re: Cheap Sound Card Suggestions

Let me just say that for those looking for a USB headset, the Plantronics DSP-500 is AWESOME. Although it sits on the ear like the Logitech 350 USB, the ear pads are foam/cloth covered instead of leather and the headset itself is noticeably lighter than the 350. I played for a couple of hours last night with no ear soreness.

The audio quality is at least as good as the 350 (which was VERY good) if not a bit better and at least for me is much more comfortable while wearing glasses. I've found a solution and altogether it was $10 less then the AL 515 headset and basic sound card I tried earlier in the week.

Re: Cheap Sound Card Suggestions

It would be awesome if BF2 supported 2 sound devices. This way you could set up the BF2 VOIP and Teamspeak to use your USB headset audio device and have the game audio use your primary sound device. This way you could get your headset to work like XBox Live.

Awesome for some of you. I rarely get to play BF2 at a time during which I could even use my speakers (i.e. I play after the kids are in bed).

I'd invest in an add-on sound proof room. Or a shed with buried CAT5e cable in the back yard

Re: Cheap Sound Card Suggestions

I just bought a PPA 6-channel card for $15 for my office machine. It uses an industrial mobo with no onboard sound. As soon as the new card starts to play the welcome music (about 2 notes into it) the system locks up tight and I have to hit the reset switch. I yanked the card out and the system is happy again. Company website at http://www.ppa-usa.com/.
