Why don't you rent a modem from Comcast - it's like $3 a month? At least then you can test to see if it is your cable modem or not before buying a new one.

That is definitely a good idea. Though I am very reluctant to give them any more of my money. We'll see. They are supposed to "lend" me one the next time they come. We'll see.

Stripes are no longer in this year. Sexy is now spelled G-R-E-E-N.
Turns out it was my modem that was the problem, though Dlink claims comcast has a hand in it. Something about comcast not letting my modem update its firmware. I am now a reluctant renter of a comcast modem but I am also an owner of a sexy new internet connection. Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions.
