Who knows a good video converter?

I need something to convert Rm files to something useful. Preferable avi with some sort of divx encoding. installing Real Player is not an option. i'm willing to go from Rm to avi then compress it wile divx if i need to. but im not sure how to go about it. Any help would be greatly apriciated.

The BEST converter out there, plays/converts ANYTHING. It's free and is used to make everything from XBox Games to Battlefield 2. Go ahead look on the back of the battlefield 2 case and you'll see the logo.

It's called: RAD Video Tools: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

Very user friendly and FAST. I use it all the time.

If you need to goto DivX, download and install the DivX codec: http://www.divx.com/divx/ : after you install the RAD Video Tools.
When you open RAD, it looks like an explorer window. You just select the file, click convert, it asks you what type and you pick AVI, then it asks which codec and you pick DivX. That simple.

That's cool about the RAD Tools, I never new it did format conversions. I can't remember the converter I used in the past, but I just remember it was sufficiently annoying enough that I did what I needed to do and then uninstalled it when I was done.

If you don't want RealPlayer installed (and I can't blame you) give RealAlternative a try. Just google for it. It's basically a very stripped down version of RealPlayer. It let's you play .rm files either locally or in a web browser, but doesn't include all the crap that comes with RealPlayer. My only gripe is that it doesn't support full screen mode. Other than that, it works well.

what's necessary to get to be able to play .rm files in media player?
