What Video Card should I buy?

Hey, Guys!

I am going to buy a video card today to accompany my purchase of Joint Operations. Problem is, I am computer-retarded. What video card can I buy that will allow me to play, but will not put me back into the poor house?

QUICK! I'm leaving shortly!

I always recommend this:

Go here: http://www.hardocp.com

Go to the reviews tab and select video cards.

Read up and decide which card you think best suits your needs.

If I'm not too late, I'd recommend the Radeon 9800 Pro 256Meg. That's what I'm looking at getting right now. Last time I looked, it was $266 at www.NewEgg.com

Yeah, the 9800 Pro is a good choice. It's really cheap these days compared to its release price. It's such a good card that it'll last a long time and is probably worth getting even if you have a crappy CPU at the moment.

Re: What Video Card should I buy?

Yeah, that's a decent deal if you don't want your old card. But if you're looking for ways to cut corners and don't want to send in a video card, www.newegg.com has 9800Pro 128M refurbs for $166, as well... And NewEgg is famous for standing behind their refurbished products.

NewEgg's price for a brand new Ati 9800Pro 128? $210 So, if your old card is worth more than $11, I would keep it for the kid's computer or donate it to TG or something...

No, the refurb was much cheaper. I was speaking of a brand new card with warranty for $210.

I am happy with my Radeon 9800 Pro, but you have to have a mobo that supports it, which i dont yet :P

how old is your computer?, and why did you spend so much money on a card you could not use?

Well, the 9800 pro support up to 8x, so maybe he has a 4x slot but not an 8x (I don't either, and I just got a 9800 pro).

Re: What Video Card should I buy?

but he said his computer did not support the 9800.... if he has a 9800, he has to have at least a 4x slot... it will not work on 2x....... trust me, I know what the radeon needs, I am just saying that his comment suggested his computer was completely incompatible with the card.
