    Firefox 2.0 tweaks

    Here is a good page with some quick Firefox 2.0 tweaks.

    Anyways, I use the Alt-S key on the forums to submit posts, but in Firefox 2.0, Alt-S has been made the access key for the history menu. Bleh! So, I searched the MozillaZine forums and saw that I wasn't suffering alone. Ctrl-Shift-S or Alt-Shift-S, depending on OS, will now open the history menu (which I won't/don't use).

    If you go in to about:config (just type that in the address bar), then type in ui.key.contentAccess and change the value to 4, you should be able to use Alt-S again.

    Also, they've changed the behavior of the backspace key in Firefox 2.0. Now it does page-up or something, at least in Linux. You can go to browser.backspace_action and change it to 0 to make backspace got back a page in your history.

    Don't like the little close-tab buttons on each tab and just want the one on the right of the tab bar? Change browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3.

    thanks! I didnt even know you could use alt-s to post on forums. Good to know. Any place where I can see any other neat tricks (besides like ctrl-tab fro tab switching, ctrl-e for search bar)?

    Anyone know if you can move your tabs from the top of the screen to the bottom without using an extension? I think the Tab Mix Plus extension was giving me this feature before...

    You cant do it without an extension. Here's one that works with FF2.0 and does that and more. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/158/

    There is a beta version of Tab Mix Plus that works with 2.0.

    I use Alt-D to highlight the address bar, as its behavior is identical in IE and Fx.

    Anyone experience a great deal of firefox hangs (not responding) with the 2.0 codebase. I've experienced this both at work and at home during RC2 and RC3 and now the final.

    I use Firefox extensively at both work and home and haven't had near the problems with the final as I did with both RC versions.
