What is everyone's rig / setup?
Mainly out of curiosity and to compare my own specs to that of others here and also gauge possibly how long my current system will last with the new games to come...what is everyone's specs for their gaming rigs?
Here's my specs:
Pentium 4, 3.0 Ghz (800 mhz FSB, Prescott, 1 MB L2)
Gigabyte Mobo (8IPE-1000G I believe, 8x AGP)
1 GB (2 x 512) Generic DDR400 RAM (Dual-Channel Config)
120 GB Samsung Spinpoint (SATA150)
256 MB GeForce 7600GS
Sound Blaster Audigy LS (5.1)
Lite-On DVD-ROM
Lite-On DVD+/-RW DL
2 x Floppy Drives (3.5")
Vantec Fan Controller (4 Channels with 6 80mm fans attached)
Thermaltake 480W PSU (Dual Fans with Fan Controller)
Raidmax Elite Black ATX Tower Case
What does everyone else have compared with mines? And I recently upgraded to the 7600GS. Should I even consider getting a extra gig of RAM or should I spend that money on my next build? And those of you who have RAID 0/1/5 configs, how are they holding up, any problems so far?Acreo Aeneas

Shooter, is your memory in dual-channel? And with your setup, do you have the page file set at 0 or is it default?

Lorian, wow that Antec case is the exact one I'm going to use for my next build!

And it's surprising how many of you have the 7600GS or above. Just wow.
I will post a picture of my rig once I find my digital camera.
Okay here's pics of my current rig...

Re: What is everyone's rig / setup?
Wow, I'm going to use that same case too, and the same cooler for my AMD. Here's the specs for the new one:
https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion...asp?ID=3707283
Short specs for that one:
CPU: AMD AM2 Dual Core 2.6ghz +5000
GPU: X1900XT 512mb VIVO
Monitors: 2 BenQ 20.1in widescreen baby!
Monitor (if I feel like it): Sony SXRD 50in HDTV
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 675 (PC2 5400)
The one I'm using right now is pitiful:
CPU: P4HT 3ghz single core
RAM: 1gig (2x512mb)
HD: 160gb, 7200rpm
Sound: Audigy Soundblaster 2, not sure which one (it's ~$70 on newegg), great sound
GPU: ATI Radeon X300 SE 128mb << Ouch
Monitor: 17in Dell
Mouse: Logitech MX510

Re: What is everyone's rig / setup?
AMD 64 3000+ currently at 1.8ghz: Works great so I haven't tweaked it yet.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819103537
2gb (4 x 512) Corsair Value select: Cheap ram, but runs great and pretty cool.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820145440
Sapphire Radeon x550 256mb: Not a top of the line card, but at the time it was all I could afford, plenty of room to upgrade in the future with my MB choice.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102565
Asus A8N-E: Super good MB. Rock Solid, lots of features, and the onboard sound is really nice.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131530
Basic Case: I have this modded with a fan blowing down onto the vid card. Also have a fan under the vid card pulling air out, a fan in the back, 2 in the front, and the PS has 2 fans. So cooling isn't any issue good case also.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811162019
LOGISYS Computer PS550ABK ATX12V 550Watts Power Supply With SATA and 20/24 Pin connectors. 100 - 240 V: Have had NO problems with it. Runs fine, cooler than the one that came with the case, put it in my moms pc. Runs quiet, even with all these fans its not loud.

Hard Drives
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3802110A 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST340014A 40GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive
eagate Barracuda 7200 120GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive*setup as external*: The external is my backup/storage drive, the 2 internal are currently set as 2 seperate drives. Will be getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140 for xmas, will make this one internal and move the 80 to external as a seconday backup as to not get my case temps any higher.
40gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148013
80gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148095
Newegg doesn't currently carry the 120 I have.
I bought the PC for about 550 before shipping last march. Was sick when the prices of the proc dropped so far that it was enarly half off what I paid 3 months later :/. But all in all I am very pleased with the box. It does superb for me, get 50-80FPS in CSS with max settings and in a window, room to upgrade/OC the parts I have if need be. Not the best box, but it does all I need and then some.Last edited by Greflin; 11-15-2006 at 05:44 AM.
