hmm, my personal experience with inq is the opposite, reading it for about 2+ years.

Ive used win2k drivers for some devices in win Xp when XP was released years ago, and they worked.
If this is what you refering to from that article that is "The R600 driver used is a modified version of a 32-bit Vista pre-build version..."

Vista uses a completely different driver model that is not compatible with anything out there right now at all. The driver doesn't access the OS in the same way anymore, not to mention that XP, etc do not have the correct versions of DX and never will.

I'm not saying that the R600 isn't going to pounce on the G80 (it better since it's so damn late), but right now there is precious little credible info out there right now, at least from sources I trust and sources that have been credible in the past.

The only thing I know for sure is it's going to be running a 512bit bus and probably with upwards of 1GB on the card (little iffy on that). The clockspeed is probably has not been set by AMD yet as final, the number of shaders is up in the air (although I think it will be 64 VEC4), etc.

Hopefully, we will see something in the March timeframe, which would mean that we would here something out there about a some sort of launch event within the next few weeks.

The reason for my post was not "One card to pwn them ALL", but rather wait and see what competition has to offer prior to purchasing.

The specs you're describing have been around for a few months now, and don’t appear to be changing. 64 shaders also have been mentioned time and again. Same goes for gddr4, seems to be the reason for delay (aside from acquisition).
