I can't beleive this.

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Wind...TF8&s=software

I wish I knew about this. I would have ordered it. The only other place that has it is Best Buy.com and they are charging me tax. I just noticed this so I ended up cancelling my order. (I shop online to avoid tax and lines.)

I think it was $30 or $40 more than the regular version.

Same price as the regular edition. I wish I could get it.

I'll take my free copy that MS sent me today:

Too bad it's 32bit.

Yeah I was a little miffed at this too. But I guess you can't complain about free. Besides I can't even get my network card working with the 32 bit version and I can imagine 64 bit drivers will be even harder to come by. Under linux you just recompile no such luck with windows and no source code.

Re: I can't beleive this.

Meh. I only do new complete systems (or old ones) with OEM copies of Windows (it's a lot cheaper, and I hate the hardcopy manual of deadweight).

Don't really want the 32bit version right now either.. In 6 months to a year.. who knows. It'll probably be that long before I get around to installing Vista -- I'm just not that excited by it. Maybe vendors will be on the ball by that time. Maybe not. Be nice to have the choice.

Re: I can't beleive this.

how is that so?

It is backwards compatible with 32-bit progs and such. So most 32-bit drivers and such work for your hardware in the 64-bit version.

Re: I can't beleive this.

I'll get Vista when Halo 2 comes out. Otherwise I see no reason.

32bit drivers won't work all the drivers have to be signed for the 64bit version.

That is incorrect. Driver signing can be turned off, either temporarily when booting by hitting a function key (I forget which one), or permenantly through a command line command.
