Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

I overclocked my RAM, got no errors in memtest, yet every game I play crashes or locks up. Highly annoying. I either overclock it to 1000 with 5-5-4-15-2T or tighten to timings at 800 4-4-4-11-1T

The RAM is at default 4-4-4-15 timmings

e6400 @ 3.2Ghz
2GB RAM (OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 DDR2-800)
eVGA 680i motherboard
600W PSU
7800GTX
Two 320GB HDD
Vista Buisness edition

Ditto. Higher timings typically require slight increases in voltage to remain stable.

Re: Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

I believe it requires even more voltage as things heat up too... try running primes95 to test the stability of your RAM instead of memtest.

Re: Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

yeah, prime95 runs fine, no errors. I already have RAM voltage at 2.25V, not sure how high to take the voltage before its bad. 2.3V still considered the maximum or does it vary from RAM to RAM?

Re: Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

It varies from ram to ram. I think I had this problem once and when I set the voltage to the highest my ram could handle it ran fine.

Re: Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

Oh well, I tried 2.5V, but then I had to reset my CMOS. Also 2.4 didn't help either. Still just crashes after a couple minutes.

Question Re: Overclocking DDR2-800 problems

Q1: Could you be overclocking your PCIe bus ?
Q2: e6400@3.2 means your FSB is at 1.6G (4x400), right ?
