It is freaking HUGE.. But I wear any mouse pad out on the bottom edge from my wrist, so hopefully it will give me a couple years before it gets too small
This thing is a frackin' YOGA MAT! But I absolutely love it!

I have always wanted to upgrade my mouse pad, and I finally did it. I have to admit that I was absolutely amazed by the performance increase. Not only do I not run my mouse off the pad, but it glides like a hockey puck. (I also got a Logitech G7 wireless mouse that makes a huge difference as well).

Re: Mousepad?

This may sound crazy but I use a pair of pantyhose.

The main reason is i use the arm of my chair for the mousing surface. I can stretch them over the arm. They are made of some kind of anti-static slick stuff so the mouse glides over them very nicely. The weave is tight and uniform so the acuracy is good. And if they get dirty I throw it out and get a new pair for nothing.

Re: Mousepad?

I ended up getting a Corepad EYEpad. Mouse skips a lot less and it's cheap.

Your not alone with the Pantyhose idea, I have that at work because of the sweaty cloth pads get dirty and wet very quick and and pantyhose gets old just new pair lol

But at home I have a cloth one and I was wondering should I get rid of this small cloth for one of these steelpads and does it really see a difference with one of these pads or regular cloth for my precision? Btw I use MX510, someone reply so I can go order one right now, when I move mouse I have no resistance at all I can make the most precise moves but is there more with the icepads and steelpads?

Re: Mousepad?

Whatever mousepad you get don't use those holigraphic ones! They deflect the lazer off your optical mouse and make your cursor go every which way.

That being said my current mouse pad, and one I'm quite proud of, is the original Myst collectors edition mouse pad. It's lasted all these years with alot of wear and tear.

Whatever you play on it's best not to play on something too shiny.

I am happy with the old version of the steelpad s&s. it made a significant difference in my gaming.

Re: Mousepad?

I printed my own mousepad. It works great.

I opened MS Paint, made a 1 pixel dot, copy and pasted a few times.

Tape to your desk and you're good to go.

Used to have an X-Trac Pro HS which is a great mousepad but I destroyed it after two years. I'll get a new one eventually.

Re: Mousepad?

I currently use a Logitech G7 on a Wacom Intuos3 Tablet (9x12). I have an IceMat, but I find that it doesn't let the G7 sleep, so the battery dies rather quickly. Also, every time it turns off, I have to restart the mouseware software in order to make it work on the IceMat again. The tablet is great though, and with teflon mousefeet, I don't really have any slickness problems.

I would have to agree with you on that one. I also use the Steelpad S&S and am extremely satisfied.

Re: Mousepad?

My national geographic mousepad with polar bears on the front that I got from best buy for a few bucks works just fine.

Re: Mousepad?

I currently use a thin, cheap cloth mousepad (from TreasureTrooper, lol) that works fine for my Logitech G5. Before that it was another thin cheapo from my old job, a startup ISP. I can actually use the G5 right on my desk top surface but the pad is mostly to cushion my wrist on the desk's rather sharp edge.
