Re: Building PC's Are So Much Easier Than They Used To Be

I enjoy building my own machines, and have done so since about 1990. the money saved over that time period was substantial. these days you can still save quite a bit putting together your own system if you know where to get the parts for cheap.

I like building powerful computers and typically do not like the standard motherboards that come with prebuilt systems. but for most people, buying prebuilt is the way to go. I dont think I would strongly reccomend building a system to somone that is a noob at it today.

Of course, I still think that anyone who is a "serious" gamer should be knowledgeable about parts and routine repairs/upgrades.
I've gone through Dell's configuration on their website. I can still save a good $400 if I built my future system myself and still come out with a better processor and graphics card than what they could offer me. And I don't trust rebates. I've used a lot of them in the past and about a good 2/3's get lost somewhere along the way there or back.
