    Bad Power Supply?

Had a power outage last night, big thunderstorm.

When I go to start my PC, nothing. The PSU never powers up. I've switchet outlets and checked all connections. I have my PC on a nice powersurge strip, everything else connected to this strip works fine. Do you guys think it's my PSU or my MB? Also, any reccomendations on brands of PSU? I had a used ANTEC in there, it was OK but I've felt it never gave me a stable voltage.

    Re: Bad Power Supply?

You can test the PSU by disconnecting everything from the PSU and shorting the green wire on the ATX connector to one of the black wires. Using a paper clip works pretty well. You can then check the voltages on the PSU. You should have 5 volts DC between the red wires and the black and 12vDC between the Yellow wires and Black.

Of course I am not responsible if you kill yourself, or something bad happens

You say you have a spare PSU under the bed. Toss it in there, and determine for certain if it's your PSU.

You don't have to keep it in there if you believe it's unstable. It's just for testing.
