Re: Cell phone

Yup. I've never quite understood why. The Razor V3M and V3cM come with all the custom ring tones for all of the cell providers. That was another unlock I added so my Verizon phone can ring with the Cingular jingle or the TMobile one.

Not a chance! I already got rid of my Blackberry because I couldn't stand that concept. It may sound strange coming from a techno-geek, but I don't want to be connected all the time. If need be, I can pull out my laptop and my Verizon EVDO card and get on the net pretty much anywhere. But as far as having the world connected to me via my hip? I'll pass. I got rid of my Blackberry and picked up a simple Motorola RAZR V3cM.

Speaking of which, does anyone want to buy a BRAND new Blackberry 7100i? When my contract was 2 days from expiring I decided to bring my phone in for warranty repair as I broke the plastic case around the antenna. They ended up giving me a brand new phone a few days later that was never used because my service had been terminated. It's a NEXTEL phone.

Re: Cell phone

I purchase all the Verizon phone for our office and have gone through a variety. The LG phones have been very good. But for overall voice/sound/conversation quality my RAZR V3M has been exceptional. I chose it for it's flip design and size - since I don't wear my phone like an ornament it fits nicely in my pocket and the LCD is protected. I chose it for that but love it for the voice clarity.

Re: Cell phone

Wow thanks for all the replies guys. I am seriously considering the VX8700 right now. It has all of the features that I am looking for right now. It's pricey at $179 though.

I will look for it in stores so that I can pick it up and see how it feels. I want to see how it feels versus the V3M and the K1m.

It will be a while before I can get anything anyway. Mrs Wimpinator is still student teaching and is unemployed. She gets a job and I get a phone.

Re: Cell phone

From what I've heard, the KRZR is more comfortable to hold than the RAZR because it is a little narrower and slightly thicker. My wife and I have had KRZRs for a couple of months and are very happy with them. We especially enjoy the Bluetooth Hands Free Link to our Acura.

Off topic: it's nice to share the same model of phone - it really cuts down on the number of chargers in the car and house.

How much? One of my coworkers really wants a Blackberry type phone. I'm trying to talk her out of it, but she insists that she wants one. She also wants her phone to be a stereo MP3 player and wants to get away from Sprint service, so I'm not sure how interested she would be in this...

I was thinking $150. It's not an MP3 player and it's a Sprint/NEXTEL phone, so I'm not sure it would fit her very well.

Re: Cell phone

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up getting the VX8700 based on the fact that many people loved the 8600 and the 8700 seemed to have everything I wanted.

So far it seems like a solid phone. It is about the size of a RAZR but the outside is make of brushed stainless steel. It's a very nice looking phone. Phone calls are crisp and clear. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Now I need to get an SD card and a bluetooth dongle.

Re: Cell phone

Sony Erricson w810i.
Durable, does mp3s, free with new cingular contract for 2 years (which has the best coverage in the tri-state area for me). Phone doesnt break, bar style but small.

Only thing is if you have big fingers the buttons are a bit on the small end. Otherwise its a killer phone (and I even unlocked mine without any trouble).
