Re: Cleaning thermal grease
Life lesson #439 addendum a:
Isopropyl alcohol turns to acetone (nail polish remover) in the liver. It will not make you go blind like methanol (which turns into formeldahyde/formic acid) Anywho, isoprop works great for cleaning electronics. As for thermal Compounds, I personally use Ceramique by AS. Thicker, pastier liquid that's easier to handle than AS5 (way less messy) and provides similar result.

Re: Cleaning thermal grease
My method is to take a razor blade and scrape off the majority of it. Then use whatever medicinal alcohol you have laying around to clean it off then wipe dry. Get whatever they have at the local dollar store. I also use medicinal alcohol to clean discs. Works well as long you air dry and wipe with a cotton ball.
