Re: AMD versus Pentium latest comparison..

AMD have led ever since the A64's came out

you dont see many 3500/3600/3700/3800mhz P4s around do you???

not to mention heat, noise, and more expensive motherboards/cpus. Why buy slower more expensive stuff because it has an intel badge on it?

and totaly agree with asus

trying to find a Rev2 Asus A8V deluxe in the UK so i can get back to my overclocking ways

Re: AMD versus Pentium latest comparison..

Yeah its a beauty O, it runs really warm though, motherboard temps in the mid to high 40s (°C) and the x800 is low 50s to low 70s under load which seems way too frickin' hot. There's 3 fans in the case and one on the CPU of course, don't think I'll be able to continue overclocking as others have reported temps 15° C less FFS. That is the only thing that is worrisome and that I don't like.

40c case temp is high, the X800 temp isnt too bad really, they do have rubbish coolers on them and are MADE for that sort of temp range. Whats the CPU temp though? and what is your cpu again? its a socket 754 chip isnt it? i cant remember. Is it a 512kb or 1mb chip? the 512kb chips aways report CPU temps around 10-20c HIGHER than what they are.

Right now im crusing along at 29c mb, 41c cpu, with standard cooler. HDD is alittle hot for my likeing though.

anyway, if you want hot then a P4 prescott (pres-hot) would be even better. Most people with these get 70c LOAD temps, and thats when throttling kicks in too. So just as you start using the cpu hard, it throttles back its speed!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

thats not bad at all really, the delta between the system and the cpu is still good so you cant blame the cooler, its just the case temp

as long as its under 65-70 its ok. Anyway im guessing your summer is how it should be? hot? lol

when it was hot here i had 60c temps some days.........but i cant remember warm days anymore
