Re: mouse tweaks

a bit of a complicated install, but easy enough to remove it seems. I may try it out on a virtual machine first.

reading through the readme, it seems like it does filter only one port. othewise you would only have to replace the usb driver. this has you replace several files, and then run a program where you select your mouse port. I will give this a shot later and see if i can get it to work.

this program works in xp sp2 with latest updates. it selectively changes the usb poling rate for only my mouse. I tried the other tweak where it overclocks all usb ports and my g11 keyboard would not work. (function keys were unresponsive) with this program everything works fine.

with just the patched usb sys file in place, my mouse is still at 125. when you install the drive, my mouse can be overlocked. u have mine at 1000. it really is a gigantic difference for me. jaw dropping even. i have read that my particular mouse really benefits from this, and it is clear that it does. things are SOOOOO much smoother and fluid.

this along with some other recent bf2142 tweaks have really made the game more fluid for me.

Re: mouse tweaks

I was going to upgrade to a G5 because the feet on my mouse where worn down on my MX510, and I didn't want to deal with tephlon tape. So I got some skates in the mail today and slapped them on, I love my mouse again.

I agree, the the difference is astounding.

Re: mouse tweaks

Great info! As soon as they come up with a Vista-compatable one I'm all over it.

Above should read.
when I install the driver... I have mine at 1000...

bleh, details...

after installing this tweak, my kill rate in 2142 has gone up 50%. the effect was nearly instantaneous.

I have it set to 1000, but mouserate says I'm getting 460.
Have you checked mouserate?

Re: mouse tweaks

mouserate shows an average of 700 if i move it very fast. I get peaks at 1000 often. is your mouserate saying 460 is your peak or your average?

Well looks like I am going to have to give it a try if I want to keep up.

I see some infrequent 1000 peaks, but the avg. is 460 on MX510
I'm still trying to figure out what the down side to this is.

the envy / ridicule of your peers.

for example, i told my wife that I oveclocked my mouse. she looked at me, laughed and simply muttered "nerd" then walked away.

My wife wants a new fridge. I think I'm going to tell her to overclock our old one instead.
