So, I'm looking at getting an Onkyo TX-SR805. But if I do that, I'll need to upgrade from my tiny 27" CRT. (Can't have all those HDMI inputs without anything plugged into them!)

So, since I'm really nearsighted (I can't read the onscreen guide for the cable programming without getting up off the couch and standing about 6 feet from the TV), I really think that I want to get the biggest TV that I can afford.

With that in mind, isn't a DLP TV the best bang for the buck?
Cing,

I have owned a 62" Toshiba DLP for about two years now and other than a defective bulb that got recalled, I could not be more pleased. I really don't use the set for anything other than movies or sports in HD. But my wife has the thing on it seems 24/7 and has not had a issue.

If I was to buy another tomorrow I would probably buy a Mitsubishi 65" DLP. Looking on Onecall.com that I bought my set they have them for $1949.99 and free shipping. This is last years model but I really did not see much of a difference in specs. The new model is $2999.99.

I sold electronics for a few years through college and any of the sets now have their positives and negatives. In my opinion if you have a room that will support a TV this size (which I think is any room that it will fit in) then a DLP is the way to go. But I can understand some spouses think large TVs look terrible and you get stuck with a scrawny little 42inch

Oooh, that's nice! That's the kind of inches to dollars ratio that I want to see!

Re: HDTV, what should I be looking for?

My father just picked up the 73 Inch Mitsubhishi DLP. I'm not sure of the product model, but it brings much man shame to me and my 32 inch.

Hmmm, let's see. 73" DLP is 93lbs and 17 inches deep. 65" LCD (I couldn't find a 62" anywhere) is 80 lbs and 4 inches deep.

The difference in thickness is significant, but I don't think the weight is.
