For the past couple weeks the Tactical Gamer website has been EXTREMELY slow for me(Dial-up slow). Before a week or so ago, it was really fast, then all of a sudden it slowed way down. I contacted my ISP thinking it was just my Internet connection, but it wasnt. The guy stopped by and did all kinds of test but nothing unusual. He then hooked his laptop up and brought the website up, and it was quick. He said that it might be something in my rig that is slowing it down...what is it? It is only for the TG site too.
PLEASE HELP ![]() ![]() |

Re: Slow website?
Clear your browser cache, internet cache, defragment your hard drive, and power off-on your modem and/or hub.
Do all of those and see if it helps. You can also do a tracert on TG's website through command prompt as well as a ping on TG's website through cmdprompt.

Re: Slow website?
The first is a little different for each browser.
To clear browser cache on IE7: Alt > Tools > Internet Options > Under 'Browsing History', click Delete To clear browser cache on FF2: Tools > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies > Remove All Cookies To clear browser cache on Opera 9.x: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > History > Empty Now Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Cookies > Manage Cookies > Select all cookies > Delete Also do this: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Select the cached web pages and IE items > Clean Up To Defrag your hard drive: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter > Defragment Turning on/off your modem and hub, you can figure out ![]() For the command prompt stuff: Start > Run > Type cmd > OK Then you can: tracert tacticalgamer.com ping tacticalgamer.com

Re: Slow website?
Well, if all else fails, reformatting is how Microsoft recommends you fix all your Windows problems.

Re: Slow website?
Is it just tg that is slow or are other sites slow as well?
If it is just tg, then it could be a browser setting or something like that If so, you could try using a different browser such as firefox to see if it goes faster to test the browser being the problem. If the tech was able to load the site fast from your dial-up then it shouldn't be anything with routers or pathing since he would use the same routing you would in theory. |

Re: Slow website?
He mentions that it is just TG.
Do the tracert on tacticalgamer.com Dirtboy and post how many hops it took. It could be an issue along the way. Oh, and if you can, please also post each hop (the printout of the tracert). From there, I'll see if I can find a program that I have that lets you see where packet drops happened on the trace route.

Re: Slow website?
Ping looks ok. Might be packet loss. Or it might be simple computational load locally. Testing with lynx or another text-only browser would reveal whether the main page had an issue or whether it was some ancillary part of the document, like a graphic.

Re: Slow website?
Well, I'd say you lost packets (packet drop) around hop 8.
I did a ip lookup, and hop 8's ip originated within Korea. A company or website by the name of Republic of Boranet-net. I presume a "boranet.net" resides on a server owned possibly by a company or a datacenter in the Bora Network? I would talk to your ISP, that is one huge difference in ping between hop 7 and 8.
