teamspeak channel gadget
I hope I'm not asking a question that has been fully answered already, search came up with nothing conclusive.
I'm wondering whether there is a gadget I can add to my desktop or google sidebar that will list people in particular teamspeak channels, like everyone currently in an in-house squad channel, the Insurgency Mod channel, etc, that sort of thing.
I think checking on the TG webpage is cumbersome and time consuming, plus I'd rather be notified of new additions than having to take the initiative.
Help?

It's funny you ask this. I was just going to ask if there is an RSS feed of current TS users for pretty much the same reason.

I believe the gadget you are searching for is the TeamSpeak Overlay. Just google TS Overlay, TSO, or Teamspeak Overlay.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
thanks for that tip, acreo.
it seems from looking at it that TSO lists overlays names in game. i'm hoping to find a gadget that will list people in teamspeak channels while i'm at my computer doing other things, preferably not even needing to run Teamspeak.

Whoops, I had thought TSO also worked on the desktop. Sorry about that.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
Check the official Teamspeak page. Their forums has a section on 3rd party applications. There was an app there the last time I checked called TS Spy. It can query a TS server and list the connected users. I'm not sure if it keeps the info up to date though.
Or, you can open up the TS page that TG has and set it to auto-refresh using Firefox and a refresher plugin like C4C or Opera with it's built-in auto-refresh.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
thanks, Sarc. made a search of it tonight and found something called "teamspeak peak." unfortunately it wouldn't load on my computer. it seems like this should be an easy thing to do, and actually someone on the Teamspeak forums was suggesting this function for windows sidebar. Probably it's just a matter of time before I can see particular channels on my google sidebar.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
I used to have the team speak overlay and all it did was show who was speaking at that time, alot like it does in game with the voip. Only problem is it caused my frame rate to lower to almost nothing so I had to ditch it.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
You need to install the .NET framework before you can launch Teamspeak Peak.

That would be cool addition to Vista's gadgets list- anyone wanna makes some money? Write a program for it- I'll be the first to buy, as long as its under $5 to download.

That's the TS Spy I tried out a long time ago. It still works. The refresh is about 30-45 seconds. The .NET framework is required to run this.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
WARNING
I needed a software like this to know who is online in which TS channels and was trying to connect to TG TS server.
Well it didnt work...
I didnt know the port number and pressed an option to scan/find the port.
TG security measures detected this as an attack and I was blocked until now (Thx Apophis for clearing my IP).
Long story short.... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SCAN PORTS

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
Just to elaborate on what John just said. Anything involving port scanning is generally a bad idea when it comes to TG servers. We have both intrusion detection as well as intrusion prevention measures in place and one of the things that gets monitored are port scans. When ANY form of port scan is detected, be it sequential or random your IP will be automatically blocked in our firewall.
In addition to the firewall drop rule, background scripts will look at your IP and obtain the abuse e-mail address from abuse.net for your IP block and automatically dispatch and e-mail off to that address (which would be your Internet Service Provider) with the nature of the attack, your IP address, along with the log data obtained from the scan. Depending on how strict your ISP is, this could result in anything from a simple warning from your ISP all the way up to the termination of your broadband access.
Most ISPs have acceptable use policies that forbid any type of intrusion attempts or port scans so they will, no doubt, frown on this type of activity.
Diplomacy is the art of saying "good doggie" while looking for a bigger stick.

Re: teamspeak channel gadget
Hmm, I hope I wasn't banned from TS. I was playing with TS spy this morning and I think it did a port scan (although I canceled it after it began). I'll have to check later tonight when I get home.
