No, it doesn't. Thats a good point, and if you use that feature, obviously it affects your choice. Openfiler, is however pretty good for that typical Netapp style workgroup filer type application. One of the more usable FOSS products I've seen, actually.

Re: FreeNas users?

Okay. There's a new nightly build out for FreeNAS that fixed an error with uPNP, but it also fixes a couple other things.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/fre...4&big_mirror=0

You can download that and use the web interface to upgrade.

As far as your FTP woes. Can you give me a description of what the actual job is you're trying to accomplish with the FTP? Is it something that absolutely requires FTP or do you just want to create a place where people can have their own personal file storage that's accessible from remote places? IIf this is the case, are the users nly really going to access it from their home PCs? If so, iSCSI might be an alternative solution. It work very well. I have a 250GB iSCSI target that I mount from home but also have it available on my laptop when I travel so I can get access to that content from anywhere.

Ok.. I give.. I saw the iSCSI listed but being a SCSI Phobe.. and thinking, I have no SCSI interface and drives so It must not be applicable.. What is it...

I really havea selection of Co-Workers that are in remote locations that I want to be able to access my Drives, which Password/Account Control.. (they are not on my workgroup)....

Thanks
