heh, I guess my mouse must be broken because I use a circuit board mouse mat. All those little reflective bits. I have the exact same mouse and it works fine.

I do think the Icemat was worth what I paid for, because it'll last for a very very long time. I'm a sensitivity nut who plays at the highest dpi setting on the mx518; if I move my mouse an inch, I'll turn more than 90 degrees in game. The Icemat is really smooth and feels nice. Treats me much better than my desktop did with its uneven surface.
