Codec Me!

Had trouble playing a video, so downloaded the new divx codecs. So now I can play that one video but a bunch of other ones will not play now. Well sound it fine, just video is messed up. Anyone know a solid codec package?

Re: Codec Me!

just download a better player, maybe try this one http://www.videolan.org/
I don't use anything else and so far I have not found a video I can't play YET... I am sure they're some out there I can't play though.

Re: Codec Me!

VLC (Videolan) is the one to get for hassle free playback of practically any video. Just download and play. If it doesn't work, get the latest version. All the codecs are built into the player so there isn't any problem with installation.

Although, I have a favourite player and hate the VLC interface. So I just download the latest codec pack (ie. CCCP) whenever something doesn't play, which usually fixes the problem.

Re: Codec Me!

You might want to take a look at Miro. It's based on VLC but has a much better interface and additional features.

http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp
and
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

There are the two packs I usually see get mentioned. I have used both in the past (not at the same time) and both are great. Something about cccp bugged me when I used it (it's probably fixed/updated by now), I don't recall what, so I use klite nowadays.
