Yeah, I've got two dead Barracuda 7200.8's sitting on my desk as well.

Although that doesn't even compare with the stack of WD, Maxtor and (remember this one?) Micropolis drives I've got in a box that have all died and are awaiting magnet removal.

Do me a favor and look to see what model/generation Barracudas they were. I was kind of shocked with my 7200.8's when they died, but the rest of my system also died relatively shortly thereafter (maybe 2 months) due to power supply issues so I've always wondered if my power supply had a hand in the drive failures.

Welp, one of them is a Maxtor. The three dead Barracudas are two 7200.8s and a 7200.7

The .8s are both model# ST3250823AS and the .7 is a ST3120827AS

I don't think there's anything sensitive on them, so I really should send them in to Seagate and get new ones.

Re: Yet another "critique my build"

as far as the whole DX 9 VS DX10 issue, has anyone seen the trailer for crysis that shows both 9 and 10???? I have watched the HD version about 20 times and for the life of me can't say that 10 is amazing and blows the doors off version 9.....honestly they are almost Identical(the trees looked a lil bushier on 10) I have a 7950 GT and that card will play crysis I would bet almost maxed.......Enemy territory was going to be a vid killer and now that game shows that it can be played by a 5700???? thats 3 generations back for the love of god. what I am saying is vid cards can be upgraded, get something with some umph for now, if money is tight get a dx9 card for now. bottom line is I bet you can see your gunsights just fine with a dx9 card and still save money. Just my opinion. Hitachi makes a pretty damn fast and good sata drive for the record....maybe check em out
