My pc is making weird noises..

okay, it just happened a few minutes ago, I tried to boot up my PC, and on the windows XP splash screen, it seemed to freeze, and the actual PC started beeping, and it loaded reeeealy slowly.

Currently it sounds a little like a cricket at night, It doesn't sound good, should I be concerned?

Try to narrow down where the sound is comming from. Check your fans inside the PC. Stop them one at a time with your finger or something. Don't touch the blades directly. It will hurt.

If the sound isn't coming from the fans, it may be your hard drive. I that case I suggest you get a new hard drive and transfer the data over asap before it dies. Sounds like its about to die.

fixed, the cpu heatsink was just clogged with dust, thanks for the replies!

Heh, I was thinking you might have one of the older (or newer) IBM/Hitachi hard drives. Those things purr like fierce angry cat.

Since when does a fierce angry cat sound like a cricket? If that's what they sound like, I must have one hell of a cat fighting ring in my backyard that I knew nothing about...
