Re: Time for vista upgrade?
I don't see a reason to go 64-bit just because your processor can do 64-bit. All the new processors support 64-bit now. It's quite normal to not take advantage of it. The advantages of it don't outweight the disadvantages right now for the average user. Give it a few more years before jumping on the 64-bit bandwagon.

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
According to friendly DIYers in my area, the OEM license allows you to reinstall as many times as necessary as long as you don't swap out your motherboard. In which case, you'll need to contact MS and explain that your motherboard died and that you really need to reinstall. No one I've talked to has had to swap out his mobo yet, but I'm guessing it'll involve a similar reactivation over-the-phone procedure as for XP.
Of course, I haven't read the OEM license, so I can't tell you how accurate the above is. Perhaps someone can verify (Sarc? < unless he has the university copy like I do)?

Also if your school offers the DVD and cd version, then you got two cd keys. |

In addition: * Drivers for older devices are sometimes not available (e.g. Creative < X-fi) * Performance is still about 10% worse than XP * Drivers in general are not good quality it appears For me this manifests itself in some devices that I love not working very well or at all (soundcard and ergodex) and lags during gameplay. I hope SP1 clears things up.

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
There's been a question on the back of my mind in regards to Vista Business Version, does it come with the Media Center edition package like Home Premium and Ultimate does?
I wanted to know before I went and downloaded it from my school's network resource. Plus, as far as I could ask, there is no physical copy for me to get other than the one I can download.

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
Eh, I'll download a copy anyways. I like the feel of Vista in part because of the Media Center edition stuff. It'll feel empty without it.
How much space does it take up by the way (Business version)? I know Ultimate can take up to 50 GB or so.

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
Definitely not 50GB. I have a 40GB partition for it and it's got 4.6GB free after installing a lot of apps along with Vista (stuff like Visual Studio, Eclipse, iTunes, MSN Live, Opera, MS Office). I think I accidentally installed the Titan Quest expansion on it too.

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
Oh, okay. So about how much of that 44 GB is actually the Vista install?

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
I think it was around 10GB used after the install. Now that I've installed a bunch of devices and their drivers, the Windows directory takes up 12GB. I guess Business is significantly lesser featured than Ultimate. lol

Re: Time for vista upgrade?
Heh, I don't plan on getting Ultimate, but Home Premium is on my list.
![]() I'll keep my MSDNAA copy of Business handy in case drivers for Vista stabilizes.
